Representatives of the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects visited Turkey.
On January 22-26, 2024, representatives of State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects
visited the cities of Ankara, Zonguldag and Istanbul of the Republic of Turkey in order to develop
mutual cooperation between the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects and the
Gendarmerie General Command of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.
Representatives of the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects were represented by
Colonel Gamarli Jeyhun, Lieutenant Colonel Abiyev Anar, Major Mustafayev Anar and Lieutenant
Nagiyev Rustam.
Meetings were held with the Head of Strategic and foreign relations in Gendarmerie General
Command, Lieutenant General Nail Ilbey, and the Head of Security Department, Colonel Tolga
Gemrek and other high-ranking officers, detailed information about State Agency for the Protection of
Strategic Objects was given to the Gendarmerie leadership to discuss the current situation and further
development of relations.
Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with the head of the Gendarmerie Special Public
Security Command, Major General Yusuf Aslan, and the head of Gendarmerie Command Aviation
Forces, Major General Ferrukh Tarakhtash, and executives of Petroleum Pipeline Corporation
(BOTAŞ). Discussions covered important tasks including counter-terrorism, aerial reconnaissance,
surveillance, and target neutralization.They also got acquainted with the activity of BOTAŞ (Pipeline
Oil Transport Company) in the field of gas import, export, storage and transmission.
Representatives of the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects got acquainted with the
role of the Gendarmerie Forces in maintaining public order in Zonguldag and protecting the Filyos
Natural Gas Processing Terminal. During their visit to Istanbul, they met with the head of the
Gendarmerie Department, Lieutenant General Yusuf Kenan Topçu, and visited the facilities guarding
the Istanbul New Airport and Topkapi Palace. During the visit, the duties of the Gendarmerie in
ensuring public order, preventing smuggling and protecting critical places were emphasized.
The overall purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in
various strategic and security-related fields and to exchange information.
At the end, commemorative photos were taken and mutual gifts were presented.
